عندما سمعت أن إحدى دور النشر ستصدر ترجمة جديدة لرواية (كثيب Dune)، تأليف فرانك هربرت، تعجبت، حيث أن ترجمتي للرواية منشورة منذ سنوات قليلة. ومع ذلك نشرت الخبر على حسابي على تويتر، وساهمت في الدعاية لها ولغلافها على مواقع إنجليزية، حيث أني من المهتمين بسلسلة كثيب وبعالمها المقتبس جزئيا من التاريخ الإسلامي واللغة العربية. لكن منذ أيام، في يناير 2022، حصلت على نسخة من هذه الترجمة الثانية، وهالني أن مترجمها (نادر أسامة) اعتمدت بصورة واضحة جدا على ترجمتي الأولى، وأنه - ودار النشر الكويتية السعودية (مكتبة كلمات Dar Kalemat) - أغفلوا ذكر اسمي في المقدمة! بل ولم يشيروا أصلا لوجود ترجمتي المنشورة سنة 2018 !! وعندما تصفحت ترجمتهم فهمت سبب الإخفاء: ترجمتهم مجرد تعديلات شكلية على ترجمتي الأولى! تقديم وتأخير بعض الكلمات، تحسين مرادفة هنا أو هناك، لكن كل الحلول اللغوية التي ابتكرتها في ترجمتي مسروقة كما هي! رواية كثيب الإنجليزية منشورة في الستينيات، وهي أهم رواية خيال علمي في اللغة الإنجليزية بشهادة كثير من النقاد، ومع ذلك لم تترجم للعربية طوال هذه السنوات لصعوبتها، ولأنها تستخدم مصطلحات غريبة مبتكرة
